5 fantastic places to get margaritas in Birmingham

As if we need an excuse to have a margarita, there’s one special day of the year where it’s encouraged to enjoy the cocktail. National Margarita Day is even more special this year, because it’s the 70th anniversary of the drink’s birth. Socialite Margarita Sames mixed her favorite spirits together in 1948, creating a sour/salty mixture with tequila and Cointreau. Since then, there are all sorts of recipes and variations. Here’s five places in the Magic City you can get a fantastic beverage to honor the Mexican cocktail.

1. Bartaco

Bartaco in Homewood is super-celebrating National Margarita Day by extending the time to celebrate and adding new, unique margaritas.  Throughout February and March, Bartaco is introducing margaritas using things like smoked pineapple, matcha green tea and blood oranges.
