It's opening weekend for one of the biggest movies of the year. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is upon us! Blasting onto theater screens with light saber fights, epic space battles, and hopefully some answers to many of the burning questions fans have had since Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Here are the 5 questions we hope get answered in The Last Jedi.
1. Who are Rey's parents?
This is definitely one of the biggest questions we were left with after Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Rey’s force abilities hint that she comes from a family that’s strong with the Force. Could she be a Skywalker?
She’s also pretty handy with the Millennium Falcon. Does that mean she could be Han and Leia’s daughter? Maybe even twin sister to Kylo Ren?
2. Why does Luke want the Jedi to end?
In the trailer for The Last Jedi we hear Luke say “It’s time for the Jedi to end”.
After Return of the Jedi, Luke sets out to create a new Jedi academy which ultimately led to Ben Solo tuning on him, destroying the academy and killing the pupils. Does Luke feel like his new Jedi academy unbalanced the force?
Does Luke think that ending the Jedi will also end the evil Sith as well, finally stopping the galactic tug-of-war?
3. Who is Snoke?
At the end of The Force Awakens we don’t know much about Supreme Leader Snoke other than he seems to be old and feeble, and he likes appearing as a giant hologram.
Hopefully The Last Jedi give us some clues as to who he is and how he was able to lure Ben Solo over to the dark side.
4. Will Rey end up going to the Dark Side?
Trailers and marketing material for The Last Jedi haven’t been very subtle with the suggestion that Rey could be lured by the dark side.
Would Disney be willing to take such a big risk with one of their newest Star Wars heroes?
5. Will the Porgs be awesome or annoying?
The adorable Porgs exploded in popularity after the trailer for The Last Jedi released but many fans are wondering if they will actually play into the plot of the movie or if they were created solely to sell merchandise.
Will Porgs be remembered as fondly as the Ewoks or be as loathed as Jar Jar Binks?
