Alabama’s Largest Anime and Gaming convention returns! Kami-Con is a 3-day convention that celebrates Japanese culture, geek culture, anime & manga, cosplay, tabletop & video gaming, comics, TV shows, movies, and much, much more! This year’s Kami-Con is taking place February 22-24 and will be held in the East Exhibition Halls in the BJCC. Featuring special guests, cosplay contests, concerts, an extensive artist alley, a gigantic arcade, tons of panels and so much more!

Cosplay Contest


Kami-Con will feature craftsmanship and exhibition cosplay contests aimed at everyone from novice cosplayers all the way up to experts.  The best part is that it’s not just for fame and glory, there will be a range of cash prizes up for grabs too!

Artist Alley


Looking to nab some custom artwork, jewlery or handmade plushies? The Artist Alley is a place where artists from all over converge into a single location to sell all sorts of great merchandise! You can find everything from custom artwork comissions, to posters and accessories, even steampunk attire!

Japanese Arcade


Tokyo Attack brings high-end Japanese arcade gaming to Kami-Con! If you’ve ever wanted to experience the thrill of an authentic Japanese Arcade without the pricey plane ticket to Tokyo then this is your chance! The best part is that it’s all FREE for con attendees!

ESTELLE (Voice Actress/Musician)

Grammy award winner singer/songwriter Estelle achieved mainstream success in the U.S. with her single “American Boy” featuring Kanye West. However, fans of Cartoon Network recognize her as the voice of Garnet, the leader of the Crystal Gems in the insanely popular Steven Universe series. Estelle’s influence on pop culture doesn’t stop there, though, with a long list of film and television credits including We Bear Bears (that’s her singing the theme song!) and Empire on FOX playing the character Delphine.


He may not have magical powers but Micah Solusod is a fair-trade, free range professional voice actor and illustrator. Hailing from Hawaii, the rapscallion is best known for his role as Soul Evans in Soul Eater. He has shown up in a number of other Funimation titles.When he’s not posting unhelpful voice acting tips on Twitter, Micah works as the lead artist for Painapple Studio.


ERICA MENDEZ (Voice Actress)
Erica was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. She became interested in voice-over during her early teen years through animation and video games. Making up and imitating voices from her favorite shows and games as a hobby quickly turned into long term goal to get into the voice-over industry. Several years and one giant move across the country later, she is currently residing in Los Angeles and working as a professional voice-over artist.


APPHIA YU (Voice Actor/Industry)

Apphia Yu, also known as Ayu Sakata, is an American voice actress, director, and producer. She was the Funimation director for Assassination ClassroomThe Disastrous Life of Saiki KClassroom of the EliteShonen Maid, and many more titles. Ayu has also worked on games such as Loren The Amazon Princess and Tales of Aravorn: Seasons of the Wolf, while also being the founder of Sakevisual, a visual novel game company.

Apphia Yu has an extensive voice-acting career.



TAD STONES (Industry)
Tad Stones started his animation career at Walt Disney Features in 1974, then moved to Disney Imagineering to design rides for EPCOT Center. He was one of the founders of Walt Disney TV Animation where he created such shows as Chip ’n’ Dale’s Rescue Rangers and Darkwing Duck along with adapting several Disney features for television. After 30 years at Disney, Tad produced several direct to video features, most notably two Hellboy Animated movies, Hellboy: Sword of Storms and Hellboy: Blood and Iron. He’s written scripts for Marvel Super HeroesGenerator Rex and was a storyboard artist on Bob’s Burgers. Now retired, his last project was the 2016 Netflix Original Series, Kulipari: An Army of Frogs which he co-wrote and directed and has been renewed for a second season. Tad is still drawing and writing on personal projects. He enjoys meeting the fans of his shows at conventions where he sells original art.


La Parfait is a group of Maids and Butlers that work hard to bring a quality Japanese maid cafe experience to conventions. They’ll be running a Japanese style Maid & Butler Cafe during the convention and performing an Idol Show at the con, bringing an extra bit of Japanese culture to Kami-Con.
