Birmingham Restaurant Week
TIME: Fri. Aug 10 – Sun Aug 19
WHERE: Participating Restaurants
Birmingham Restaurant Week celebrates the city’s burgeoning culinary reputation as we connect our community through local food. From fine dining to down-home cookin’, food lovers with a taste for adventure can enjoy special lunch or dinner prix-fixe menus ranging from $10, $15, $20, $30 or $40 per person – making it easy and affordable for everyone to enjoy a taste of Birmingham’s diverse dishes.
Magic City Brewfest
TIME: Fri. Aug 10 from 7pm-11pm, Sat. Aug 11 from 5pm-9pm
WHERE: Avondale Park
Sample close to 200 types of beers at Avondale Park. Magic City Brewfest will offer a lot of local Alabama beers plus brews from all over the U.S.! There will be plenty of water on hand and discounted tickets for Designated Drivers.
Rebel Without a Cause - Alabama Theatre Summer Film Series
TIME: Fri. Aug 10 from 7pm-9pm
WHERE: The Alabama Theatre
PG-13 | 1h 51min | Drama | 1955 A rebellious young man with a troubled past comes to a new town, finding friends and enemies. Presenting as a part of the 2018 Alabama Theatre Summer Film Series. Tickets for all movies are $9 each. Children ages two and younger are free of charge.
Woodlawn Street Market
TIME: Sat. Aug 11 from 10am-4pm
WHERE: Historic Woodlawn
Woodlawn Street Market is an urban street market, in the heart of Historic Woodlawn, conceived for those who are always searching for unique, specialty creations. Patrons can expect merchants selling produce, goods, and prepared food, along with a few home-grown restaurants and retailers. The market will offer Birminghamians a gathering place – a locale for taking in an amazing meal or picking up a few inspiring pieces to add to their collection.
Shoes and Brews Cornhole Tournament
COST: FREE to attend, Competitive Tournament: $50/team, Social Tournament: $40/team
TIME: Sat. Aug 11 from 1pm-9pm
WHERE: Cahaba Brewing
Join the Junior Board of The Firehouse for the second annual Shoes and Brews Cornhole Tournament! Bring your friends and family and plan to play all day- if you are a serious cornhole player, the competitive tourney is from 2-5pm, and the social tourney is from 5-8pm. We will have great prizes for the winners, and if you bring a pair of shoes to donate to the homeless, you might walk away with some Firehouse swag!
This is a family friendly event, and all proceeds go to help The Firehouse Shelter in their mission to end homelessness in Birmingham.
Tragic City Rollers Final Home Bout Double Header
COST: $12, 8 and under FREE
TIME: Sat. Aug 11 from 4pm-9pm

Rewind at the Zoo - 80's Fest
TIME: Sat. Aug 11 from 7pm-11pm
WHERE: Birmingham Zoo
Rewind the summer and relive the 80s at Henley Park on Saturday, August 11. We’ll be dancing to our favorite music hits of the 80s with opening local 80s band, Legal Limit, followed by Electric Avenue from Atlanta! Meet VJ legend Alan Hunter, enjoy a video game Gaming Truck, caricature artist, hula hoop artist, photo booth, lawn games, views of the Zoo’s amazing animals, and more! Your best 80s attire is encouraged, so tease back your hair, break out the neon clothing, stonewashed jeans, jelly bracelets, and jean jackets for our Rewind Costume Contest! It’s going to be a totally rad blast from the past with amazing prizes.
