Spicy Pigskin Candy is the perfect tailgating snack! Hey who doesn’t like bacon. Spicy Pigskin Candy makes 2 dozen.
Spicy Pigskin Candy Ingredients
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 3/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/4 tsp. freshly ground pepper
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 8 thick cut bacon slices
Time to Cook
Cut the back into thirds. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Stir the brown sugar, red pepper flakes, and ground pepper together in a small bowl. Place the bacon on a lightly greased rack over a foil-lined half sheet pan. Brush the bacon with half of the syrup & sprinkle with half of the sugar mixture.
Bake for 15 minutes.
Turn the bacon & brush with the remaining syrup & sprinkle with the remaining sugar mixture. Bake an additional 15 minutes or until crisp.
Cool for 30 minutes.
Optional Grilling Instructions: For added smoky flavor, place the sheet pan of prepped bacon pieces on the grill over Medium heat 10 minutes. Carefully remove the sheet pan from the grill using heavy-duty grilling oven mitts. The pan will be extremely hot. Proceed with the baking & additional recipe instructions as directed.
