Magic of Lights™ is a unique and dazzling drive-through holiday lights experience to celebrate the season. Pile everyone into the car and experience Magic of Lights from the comfort of your own car as you wind through the sparkling path. At every turn, the magical route is overflowing with spectacular light displays that bring your favorite holiday themes and characters to life.

2. Alabama Theatre Holiday Film Series

3. Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland

Come see over 2 miles of custom made displays dance to the music played over the radio in your car in perfect synchronization! Also, see the all-new FAVORITE TALES theme featuring custom built, giant, all-led displays of all the fairy tales you love! They are guaranteed to delight everyone from young to old!

4. Homewood Christmas Parade and Star Lighting

Bring your family and friends as the City of Homewood lights up the historic Homewood Star at the top of 18th Street as the official beginning of the Downtown Homewood Christmas Parade! The Lighting of the Christmas Tree will immediately follow the parade at City Hall.

5. Holiday Makers Market & Open House

‘Tis the season for our favorite event of the year. Join us for an up-close look at the studios and shop all of our makers! This is your best chance to see what goes on behind that garage door by Big Spoon Creamery. (We know you’ve wondered that while enjoying some ice cream.) We will have music and drinks and plenty of goods that are ready for gifting. This will be your first chance to enroll in 2020 classes & get 10% off any enrollments purchased during the Open House

6. Seasick Holiday Bash 2019!

It’s that time of the year again! Seasick Records is here to help you get in the holiday spirit! DJ PJs (Paul Cordes Wilm) will be back this year to spin the most obscure of holiday jingles. Santa Nina will be coming down the chimney to take photos with all the good girls and boys. Charm On 2nd will be there to kick off their seasonal pop-up shop! Chef Robby Melvin will be cooking some delicious food too!

  • The BEST Butternut Squash-Leek Soup w/ Crispy Herb Bread Crumbs

7. Zoo Light Safari

Watch as the Birmingham Zoo comes alive for a jubilant holiday celebration at our 26th annual ZooLight Safari presented by Wells Fargo! Be amazed by enchanting illuminations and a million sparkling lights. Enjoy the sounds of seasonal songs and holiday classics as you delight in delicious treats and decadent desserts at the S’mores & More station! Get creative making crafts, decorating ornaments, and writing letters to Santa. Take a merry ride on the Candy Cane Train, go for a spin on the Jingle Bell Carousel, dash down the Polar Plunge Slide, and enjoy fun holiday themed games!

8. Mountain Brook Holiday Parade

Santa Claus is coming to town! You can’t miss one of Mountain Brook’s favorite tradition! Watch the parade, attend a pop-up story time from The Emmet O’Neal Library under the Bromberg’s tree, and then get a picture made afterwards with Santa at the Mountain Brook Magazine photo opp! The parade will start at Office Park and go through Mountain Brook Village on Cahaba Road. The parade will turn right on Culver Road and continue on Culver and Petticoat Lane back to Cahaba and then back to Office Park. Roads along the parade route will close down about 2:30 and will open as is safe after the parade. All roads should be open by around 4:30.

9. Whataburger Family Friendly Holiday Event

Whataburger is inviting customers to take a break from holiday shopping for an afternoon of holiday cheer at the restaurant located at 1601 Main St in Fultondale. Attendees will experience a festively decorated restaurant with Santa photo opportunities, cookie decorating, giveaways and more. Santa will be making his list, and checking it twice, so be sure to join us and find out if you’ve been naughty or nice!

10. Vulcan Holiday Light Experience

Vulcan Park and Museum invite the Birmingham area to gather again for 2nd Annual Magic of Lights: Vulcan’s Holiday Light Experience Premiere on, Dec. 8, from 6-9 p.m. At the top of each hour, beginning at 6 p.m., guests will enjoy a 15-minute lively array of dancing lights choreographed to delightful holiday music. The Anvil and Museum will have extended hours until 9 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to shop at The Anvil for the Red Dot Sale or purchase Birmingham-themed items from local artisans such as Earthborn Pottery and Glass Studio. There will be complimentary hot chocolate (while supplies last) along with beer, wine and other beverages for purchase. Santa V will be present for photos from 6 – 8 p.m. at the premiere on Dec. 8. Admission is $6 for 13 and up, $4 for kids ages 5-12 and children under 4 are free.

11. Vestavia Hills Christmas Parade & Celebration

12. Wacky Tacky Light Tour

A guided bus tour of the best of the worst of Birmingham’s holiday lights. See Santa’s Trailer Park, the Hanukkah House, Toomer’s Corner, Darth Vader Christmas, Mooning Santa, and so much more!  Buy individual tickets or book a party bus for your Christmas party for friends, clubs or business with us! Buses run every ten minutes from 6pm to 8pm for four nights. Wear your tackiest sweater. Prepared to laugh out loud. See the best of the worst of Birmingham’s holiday lights: Dueling Neighbors, the Hanukkah House, Singing Trees, and Santa’s Trailer Park

13. Alabama Ballet’s Nutcracker

Alabama Ballet is proud to present George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® as one of only eight companies in the world licensed by The Balanchine Trust to perform this holiday masterpiece. Tchaikovsky’s beloved melodies transport the young and young at heart to a magical world where mischievous mice besiege a battalion of toy soldiers and an onstage blizzard leads to an enchanted Land of Sweets.

14. Woodlawn Holiday Market

Support your local artists and farmers, and get your holiday shopping done right in the neighborhood! Enjoy local brews and delicious food from the Oregon Public House, get your Christmas Tree (from Dekum Street Doorway), enjoy some holiday kids crafts, and listen to live local musicians while you peruse the goods and have fun with your friends and neighbors.

15. Alabama Symphony Handel’s Messiah and Home for the Holidays
