During this time of social distancing, lots of people have been turning to streaming services more than ever to pass the time. Now with theater chains closed Amazon has launched a new service to help you bring the theater experience home! Amazon Prime Video Cinema is a new hub on Prime Video that lets you buy or rent movies that under normal circumstances would have still been in theaters right now.

You can’t go to the movies, so the movies will come to you! The new hub features movies that Hollywood hoped you’d be watching right now in theaters but because of the coronavirus pandemic theaters were forced to close. While the library of movies on tap isn’t huge, there are some heavy hitters that you can watch in the comfort of your home months before they would normally be released to streaming services. Check out some of the more popular movies available below:
Onward
In Disney and Pixar’s ONWARD, two teenage elf brothers Ian and Barley Lightfoot (voices of Tom Holland and Chris Pratt) get an unexpected opportunity to spend one more day with their late dad and embark on an extraordinary quest aboard Barley’s epic van Guinevere. Like any good quest, their journey is filled with magic spells, cryptic maps, impossible obstacles, and unimaginable discoveries. But when the boys’ fearless mom Laurel (voice of Julia Louis-Dreyfus) realizes that her sons are missing, she teams up with a part-lion, part-bat, part-scorpion, former warrior – aka The Manticore (voice of Octavia Spencer) – and heads off to find them. Perilous curses aside, this one magical day could mean more than any of them ever dreamed.
Birds Of Prey And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn
The Way Back
Jack Cunningham (Ben Affleck) once had a life filled with promise. In high school, he was a basketball phenom with a full ride to college, when suddenly, for reasons unknown, he walked away from the game, forfeiting his future. Now years later, Jack is stuck in a meaningless job and drowning in the alcoholism that cost him his marriage and any hope for a better life. When he is asked to coach the basketball team at his alma mater, which has fallen far since his glory days, he reluctantly accepts, surprising no one more than himself. As the boy starts to come together as a team and win, Jack may have finally found a reason to confront the demons that have derailed him. But will it be enough to fill the void, heal the deep wounds of his past, and set him on the road to redemption?
What you can’t see can hurt you. Trapped in a violent, controlling relationship with a wealthy scientist, Cecilia (Elisabeth Moss) escapes in the dead of night and disappears into hiding. But when her abusive ex suddenly dies, Cecilia suspects his death was a hoax. As a series of eerie coincidences turns lethal, threatening the lives of those she loves, Cecilia’s sanity begins to unravel while she desperately tries to prove she is being hunted by someone nobody can see.
Cheaper than going to the movies
The “In-Theater” purchases or rentals are all priced at $19.99, which is a bit more than people are used to paying for digital rentals through Amazon Prime Video but is still cheaper than a night out at the movie theater. One of the best things about Amazon’s Prime Video service is that you can watch the content from a wide variety of devices, like your phone, tablet, computer, and most streaming hardware like Roku, Fire TV Sticks, Apple TV, and modern game consoles. Amazon Prime Video Cinema’s landing page also has a lot of other recently released movies available plus a bunch of discounted picks that will be changed out each week.
