Birmingham Originals is pleased to announce the 17th annual Breakin’ Bread, Alabama’s premier food, wine and beer festival, will be held Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Pepper Place.
Presented by Spire, Breakin’ Bread will feature tastings of signature dishes from over 25 Birmingham Originals member restaurants with proceeds benefiting the Birmingham Originals Grant Program. Refreshments including wine, beer, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages will be served while guests enjoy an afternoon of celebrating the city’s food culture, musical entertainment, regional crafts and more.

Alongside the locally owned and operated restaurants, southern craftsmen will join Breakin’ Bread for the second Buffalo Rock Makers’ Market to share and sell handmade art and creations while celebrating the culture and creativity of the region. Event attendees can expect to see a lively collection of artists and craftsmen skilled in architecture, fine art, fashion and design in an enticing and explorable maker bazaar.
Guests will be entertained at the Tito’s Handmade Vodka Stage with acoustic tunes and sounds from Billy Gant, who will start off the event at 12:30 p.m. Gant will be followed by Z and the Party Faktory, a 5piece band playing a range of music from dance, funk, hip hop, jazz and more. Breakin’ Bread is truly an event for the whole family, as the Red Diamond Coffee and Tea children’s area will feature face painting, balloon art, bounce house, pumpkin decorating and more.
Tickets to Breakin’ Bread are now on sale at www.breakinbreadbham.com. VIP tickets include unlimited food sampling and wine, beer and cocktails; access to the International Wines & Craft Beer VIP area and early entrance to the event at 12:30 p.m. General admission tickets include unlimited food sampling and two drink tickets for wine, beer or the featured Tito’s Handmade Vodka cocktail. Both VIP and general admission tickets are available at early bird pricing – $90 and $30 respectively. Children under the age of 12 are free and have access to unlimited food sampling and the Red Diamond Coffee and Tea children’s area.
Event proceeds will benefit the Birmingham Originals Grant Program, awarding scholarships to individuals pursuing an education in culinary arts as well as providing assistance for local entrepreneurs in the hospitality industry. Since 2002, Birmingham Originals has donated more than $135,000 to local charitable organizations benefiting children and families in the Birmingham area.
