Canoe Creek Coffee is a small, family run coffee shop located in Asheville Alabama. Mike Bailey, his wife Allison and their five adopted children operate the coffee shop out of a quaint little building.
Since opening it’s become a popular spot both for local and those just passing through. One unique aspect of their coffee is that Mike roasts all of their coffee beans in a custom roaster that he designed.
“I was sitting in the doctor’s office one day, designed that roaster, took it to a fab shop and he made it for me,” said Bailey. “It’s one of a kind.”
Mike decided to design his own unique roaster after he was unable to find a roaster big enough for what he wanted to do. All the coffee used in the shop is roasted in Mike’s custom roaster.
Canoe Creek Coffee
Canoe Creek Coffee was started out of a love of coffee that Mike and his daughter Sarah share but it’s now turned into a business that the entire family, including five adopted children, all help operate. Inside the shop you’ll find not only uniquely roasted coffees, but also a table that was once a prop during the filming of ‘Fried Green Tomatoes‘. There’s also a hoosier cabinet from a family friend that survived the April 27, 2011 Tornado. The wall of the shop are covered with wood from trees on the property that were cleared during a remodel.
Baked goods too!
Canoe Creek Coffee also incorporates baked goods made by Mike’s wife Allison. Everything from breakfast, lunch and fresh made pastries are available to eat alongside your coffee.
“We have bear claws, cherry pin wheels, and we make three different kind of scones,” said Bailey’s wife, Alison. “We have muffins, and cinnamon rolls are the most popular. We also make some breakfast sandwiches.”
