M-POWER Ministries is proud to announce Taste for the 20th in celebration of its 20th anniversary. Presented by ProAssurance, the event will be held Thursday, Oct. 24 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at The Theodore, located at 3211 2nd Ave. S.
Birmingham residents are invited to enjoy a seated dinner featuring some of the best food Birmingham has to offer. Taste for the 20th will support the efforts of M-POWER Ministries, a nonprofit located in Avondale helping people find paths out of poverty by providing education and health services to Jefferson County residents.
“We’re thrilled to host Taste for the 20th as an opportunity to celebrate M-POWER Ministries’ milestone anniversary,” said Alice Jackson, Co-chair of Taste for the 20th. “Attendees will have the opportunity to listen to the stories about how Jefferson County has been coming together for 20 years to change lives through our organization and volunteers. This event supplies funds that enable us to continue to provide vital outreach services and resources through our free medical clinic and adult literacy, GED and career-readiness programs.”
For the past 20 years, M-POWER Ministries has helped those who come through its doors seeking paths out of poverty. Taste for the 20th will celebrate these last 20 years and honor those who have made what M-POWER does possible.
What You Can Expect
Attendees will enjoy a seated dinner featuring salads and sides, entrees and desserts from Rodney Scott’s BBQ, Mile End Deli, Little Donkey and Jim ‘N Nick’s. Taste has always focused on providing its guests with some of Birmingham’s best cuisine, and 2019 will be no different.
Additionally, guests will have various opportunities throughout the night to continue supporting M-POWER. Those include a “gift card pull” in which patrons donate $25 in exchange for a gift card of at least $25 to a local restaurant, a school supply “sale” where guests can purchase school supplies to support an M-POWER GED student, or they can choose the Medical Clinic Buy-a-Day option. With it, a donation is made to cover the costs of a day at the clinic, where approximately 14 patients are seen and treated each day.
Tickets are $75 per person and can be purchased by clicking here. Tables for groups of eight can be purchased for $500. Advanced ticket purchase is strongly encouraged, as there will be limited tickets available for purchase at the door.
“Fundraisers like Taste for the 20th are so vital to what we do at M-POWER because it allows us to continue to impact the lives of those in need,” said M-POWER Executive Director Dalton Smith. “For 20 years, educators, physicians, ministers and other volunteers have been coming together to quietly change the lives of those in need in our city. Taste for the 20th celebrates this milestone, and we’re looking forward to sharing the M-POWER story with the community while honoring some of those who have played an integral role in our success over the last 20 years.”
