Charlemagne Records is closing after 42 years in Southside

Charlamagne Records

Charlemagne Records is closing it’s doors after being a fixture of the Southside community for 42 years. One of the oldest record stores in Birmingham, Charlemagne Records has been bringing some of the coolest music to the Southside area since it first opened in 1977. The store will remain open, with most inventory priced at 50% off, until the end of the month.

Charlemagne Records statement

Charlemagne Records made the announcement on social media and in an email sent to WBRC owner Marian McKay said:

Dear Friends,

After 42 years on the Southside, Charlemagne Record Exchange will be closing

it’s doors at the end of December. We want to thank you for all of the wonderful years

we have been able to serve our community. Most of our inventory will be 50% off.

Thank you Birmingham, It’s been a “Wonderful Life”. Merry Christmas!
