With Governor Ivey’s amended Safer at Home order, many restrictions on businesses have been lifted allowing more types of businesses to reopen. We’ve put together a list of some of our favorite spots that are reopening and what they’re doing to keep customers safe.
Businesses reopening to the public
Battle Republic
Battle Republic will be open for both on-site and virtual classes. They’re making their place even safer by using professional sanitation on all surfaces, heightened disinfecting procedures before and after classes, contact-free check-in and purchases, recommended 6 feet distance maintained in all common areas, limited class capacity to create 12 feet of distance during workout, all kettlebells and bags cleaned before each class, staff temperature checks before each shift, hand sanitizer stations and high touch amenities such as towels, showers, and water fountains will be discontinued.
Good People Brewing
Good People Brewing will limit the taproom to placing orders only with seating being restricted to outside only and tables cannot be moved. There will be signs posted to help customers know where to stand and how to order beer. They will also offer safer ordering through a touchless payment option through the Arryved App. Sanitation will be stepped up and all staff will be wearing masks and gloves. It is strongly encouraged that customers also wear face-covering when not taking a drink of beer.
Single Barrel Barber Shop
Single Barrel Barber Shop is reopening with new rules. If you are sick you must reschedule your appointment for at least 14 days later. Customers will wait outside until called in and will be required to use hand sanitizer upon entering the shop. Customers must practice social distancing at all times. The barbers will not be doing any shaves or razor work on customer’s faces. If children cannot sit in the barber chair by themselves, their appointment will need to be rescheduled as parents cannot accompany their child into the shop and must remain outside. Finally, they say that masks are not required but are greatly appreciated!
Queen’s Park
Queen’s Park won’t be seating guests indoors but they will be doing socially distanced seating on their brand new patio. They’ve also consulted with experts in public health & sanitation to implement new systems that will ensure everyone’s safety.
Ghost Train
Ghost Train is taking every step possible to keep guests and staff as safe as possible. You must wear a mask in order to enter the facility, once inside the mask can only be removed when you are sipping on a delicious beer and you must follow all social distancing rules. The bar staff will be wearing masks and gloves at all times and the taproom will be operating at partial capacity with only 4 people per table. No groups over the size of 10 people.
Big Spoon Creamery
Big Spoon is planning to reopen Friday 5/15 for normal service. The popular ice cream shop plans to share additional details later this week on their plans to ensure a safe environment for both customers and their team.
Nexus Fitness
Nexus Fitness will be reopening with limited capacity and a limit of 12 members per class with everyone staying six feet apart throughout classes. Since staff will need time before and after class to sanitize equipment, classes will only be 45 minutes. Members will not be allowed into the gym until all stations have been sanitized and members from the previous class have left the building. Also, the water fountains, showers, sauna and child care room will not be available.
Birmingham District Brewing
Birmingham District Brewing is implementing strict policies to continue to keep customers healthy. All staff will be required to wear masks while serving the public. Capacity is reduced to allow plenty of space between patrons and tables should not be moved. Staff will sanitize the taproom, patio, and bathrooms regularly throughout the day. Customers are asked not to visit the taproom if feeling sick.
Parkside
Parkside is following all the regulations set out by State and Local health departments. That means fewer tables both inside and out. Social distancing between customers will be required.
Saltgrass Steak House
Saltgrass Steak House in Birmingham and Hoover reopens their dining rooms today for the local community to enjoy while following CDC Guidelines and recommendations such as limiting in-dining capacity to 25 percent as well as other safety measures. Employees will be screened daily for both temperature and symptoms. Necessary steps will be taken to ensure that social distancing is in place between customers. All areas of the restaurant will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized daily including door handles, chairs, tables, restrooms, handrails and more. They will also offer disposable menus and no-touch ordering options.
