Free Fishing at Oak Mountain State Park on June 8!

Free Fishing

Grab your rod and reel and get ready to catch the big one. You can take your family to Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham to fish for FREE as part of Alabama’s Free Fishing Day on Saturday, June 8.

It’s a great time to try fishing for the first time! While you can fish for free, the entrance fee to Oak Mountain State Park still applies.

Free Fishing Day is part of National Fishing and Boating Week, which runs June 1-9. Fishing in a private pond requires the owner’s permission.

Free Fishing Day

On June 8, all Alabama residents can fish public waters without a fishing license.

“Free Fishing Day is the perfect opportunity for non-anglers to test the fishing waters and to remind former anglers of all the fun they’ve been missing,” said Nick Nichols, Fisheries Section Chief for the Alabama Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries. “It’s a great opportunity for kids to learn how fun and exciting fishing is, while giving families a chance to do something together outdoors.”
