Girl Scouts Virtual Camp
This summer, when kids and parents are faced with limited safe, accessible, and affordable camp and outdoor options due to the pandemic, Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama found a solution – Camp Sunshine 2.0.
Camp Sunshine 2.0 is a virtual camp experience open to Girl Scouts and non-members alike.

The 411 on Camp Sunshine 2.0
Camp Sunshine 2.0 provides access to a one-of-a-kind virtual camp experience for girls from their own homes. Girls will learn real camp skills, and ‘meet’ girls from across the country, all through a safe virtual platform.
Each girl will create a “flat camper,” which is an avatar that looks just like them, to keep at home along with a “Build-A-Camp” kit for them to cut out, color, and assemble a 3D camp for their flat camper. Girls will interact with staff and camp counselors to learn new skills and see their flat campers participate in activities at camp like canoeing, horseback riding, climbing, archery, and more.
Girls will stay engaged and get out of their chairs by learning real camp skills like how to paddle a canoe, how to safely hold a bow and arrow, how to tie knots and belay in rock climbing, and how to hold the reins on a horse. Girls will also create art in the outdoors and make fun crafts, play games, sing camp songs, make friendship bracelets, and make a camp meal.
Just like at traditional camp, campers will be assigned to a “cabin,” which will allow for girls to interact with a smaller group for a more individualized experience. Assignments for each group will based off grade and age.
“For more than a century, Girl Scouts has been a place where girls come together to learn, lead, get outdoors with their friends, and take action in their communities,” said GSNCA CEO Karen Peterlin. “This summer, we are proud to continue offering high-quality programming that provides girls opportunities to explore the natural world around them, engage in environmental stewardship, and enjoy the fun and friendship of Girl Scouts in innovative new ways that meet the needs of families during this unprecedented time.”
Upcoming dates for Camp Sunshine 2.0 are July 20-24 and July 27-31. Camp lasts from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. each day.
The price for one week of Camp Sunshine 2.0 is $60 for non-members, $25 for GSNCA members, and $35 for Girl Scout members from other councils. The price includes a flat camper and a Build-A-Camp kit.
