How to cut a watermelon

Watermelon is a perfect companion to any summer cook out or get-together! If you want to serve it to your guest the right way, you’ll need to know how to cut a watermelon! Luckily we’ve got some tips for you!

how to cut a watermelon

The first thing you’ll need is a knife. The main thing you need to worry about when choosing a knife in the length of the blade. You want the knife to be long enough to cut deep into the melon but not so deep that it goes all the way through and breaks out the other side. Start by making several lengthwise cuts from one end of the melon to the other. Start with a cut right down the middle, then make a few cuts on each side separated by three to four inches. Make sure your cuts are at a slight angle inward toward the center of the melon. Next rotate the watermelon 90 degrees and make horizontal cuts roughly two inches apart from each other all the way down the length of the melon. After this you should be able to lift the perfectly cut piece of watermelon right out! Lastly, flip the melon over and repeat on the other side! You can vary the size of the pieces by making your cuts closer together or farther apart!
