How Alabama Jimmy John’s locations are supporting health-care workers

We talked with Brandon Stewart about how Jimmy John's is giving back to the community and how they're supporting health-care workers.

To support the community during the coronavirus pandemic, Alabama area Jimmy John’s locations are waiving all delivery fees, giving out free little john’s to children from 11 am – 2 pm and a new $6 box lunch has been created specifically for health-care workers and first responders.

$6 Box Lunch for Health-Care Workers

Jimmy John's

The new box lunch created for health-care workers comes with a pickle, a sandwich, a bag of chips and a cookie. Shortly after the Alabama Jimmy John’s locations run by owner-operator Brandon Stewart started selling the special box lunch, they began getting bombarded with calls from people wanting to buy a box lunch for first responders. The community wanted to give back to those on the front lines of the pandemic and Brandon saw this as a really exciting opportunity. Brandon decided to team up with The Pheonix Club of Birmingham and together they’ve launched a GoFundMe page where you can donate and “Pay It Forward” to health-care workers and first responders.

Paying it forward

The description of the campaign on GoFundMe reads as follows:

Jimmy John’s (owned by Brandon Stewart)  in Birmingham, Jacksonville and Enterprise, Alabama has partnered with the Phoenix Club of Birmingham to raise money for health-care workers in AL communities. Together, we are facilitating people to “pay-it-forward” to the health-care workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. With things expected to get worse before they get better, we want to show our full support to the community that will take care of us when we are sick. Although the Phoenix Club of Birmingham primarily supports the Boys and Girls Club of Central Alabama, it has activated its membership of 100 young leaders to support our community at a time of need.  All donations will go to provide meals for health-care workers in Birmingham and other AL communities free of charge. Jimmy John’s has agreed to special pricing on box lunches for the project and is supporting the marketing effort.  Each box lunch will contain a sandwich, bag of chips cookie and pickle spear and will cost $6.00 plus tax with no delivery fee. The Phoenix Club of Birmingham is a 501(c)3 organization and donations will be tax deductible.  100% of ALL DONATIONS after any GoFundMe fees will go to the mission.
