Mark’s Joint recently opened its doors in the original Urban Cookhouse location in Homewood!
Although this is proprietor Mark Snyder’s first foray into owning a restaurant, his resume leaves him well equipped. Snyder helped launch Urban Cookhouse in 2010. He’s served various managerial and operational roles for the popular fast-casual brand since its opening.
When asked why he decided to open a barbecue restaurant in Homewood’s vibrant downtown center, Snyder attributes the thinking to his overall demeanor.
“I am about as laid-back as they come, so when the opportunity arose to open my own restaurant, backyard barbecue was the only menu I considered,” Snyder says. “It just suits me.”
How It All Began
Snyder’s love of barbecue also stems from his roots. He recalls grilling at his grandparents’ house in Coker, AL, on Crimson Tide game days. Snyder hopes to convey that same experience of family and home to every customer when they visit his establishment. Personal touches will help facilitate that feeling of home when visiting Mark’s Joint. Snyder also hopes the centralized Homewood location will feed into the friendly neighborhood atmosphere that’s synonymous with barbecue.
Customer Service First
Mark’s staff will be comprised of seasoned restaurant industry professionals whose goal is to provide the fastest, friendliest service around. Anyone who has frequented Urban Cookhouse over the past eight years knows that customer service is paramount, as Snyder has generated innumerable repeat customers through his constant smile, laudable work ethic, and commitment to creating the best possible dining experience.
What’s on the Menu
Mark’s Joint serves brisket, spare ribs, and pulled pork. The slow-cooked meats are accompanied by signature side items, and the menu itself offers unique twists on traditional barbecue fare, like authentic Mexican-inspired BBQ nachos, tacos, and soups. Bake-at-home items will also be available for pickup and catering.
