Gatos and Beans, located at 4348 3rd Court South Birmingham Al,is a Cat Cafe and Adoption Center. It’s essentially a coffee shop with a cat room inside that allows you to hang out with any of the adoptable cats! There is a $10 admission fee to enter the cat room for one hour which includes a complementary coffee, tea or soft drink with the ability to upgrade to a premium beverage for a small fee.
Rodney Scott's BBQ
3719 3rd Ave S, Birmingham, AL 35222
Rodney Scott’s BBQ, a Charleston, South Carolina-based whole-hog barbecue restaurant from James Beard Award winning pit-master Rodney Scott is now open on 3rd Ave South in Birmingham in the former Saigon Noodle House location.
Luna Latin Cuisine
Luna is based on Venezuelan cuisine, which is diverse, complex and influenced by its European (Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and French), West African and Native American traditions. Venezuelan cuisine varies greatly from one region to another but regardless of the region, it’s the equivalent of good ole comfort food. Food staples include corn, rice, plantain, yams, beans and several marinated meats.

Mile End Deli

Using their grandmothers’ time-honored recipes as the foundation for the menu, the folks at Mile End Deli put updated spins on traditional dishes and put a focus on fresh ingredients and from-scratch cooking techniques. The restaurant is a combination of a Jewish delicatessen and a Canadian-style restaurant, modeled after delis found in Montreal’s famous Mile End neighborhood. This specific style of deli offers signature smoked meats and sandwiches, homemade hotdogs with tangy kraut, poutine, fresh whitefish salad and more.
Filter Coffee Parlor
1927 11th Ave S, Birmingham, AL 35205
Premium coffee returns to Five Points South! Filter Coffee Parlor is now open in the same location that had been previously occupied by Starbucks on 11th Avenue South in the historic Birmingham neighborhood. Filter Coffee Parlor, owned by husband-and-wife team James Little and Jill Marlar, features coffee roasters from across the state with a diverse menu of offerings.
McFly's Bird Shoppe

McFly’s Bird Shoppe has a menu that’s somehow both simple and extraordinary at the same time. Offering just five combos might seem like a pretty narrow selection at first but you’d be mistaken. You can order chicken, turkey or vegan tenders in both original or spicy flavors, as a tender basket or as a sandwich on a potato roll.
Brat Brot reopened

Brat Brot’s new incarnation will be more evening focused with hours on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 4 p.m. until 11:30 p.m., Friday from 4 p.m. until 12:30 a.m., and all day on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 12:30 a.m. Brat Brot will offer a full bar with 6 classic cocktails on tap, a revamped food menu, and some cozier seating options with casual table service inside. The Gartenbar will also be adult only (21+) at all times and will no longer be showing sports on the TVs with the exception of college football on Saturdays in the fall.
SPIRO Salt Room

Relaxing and breathing in the salt rooms will cost about $25 per person for a 45-minute session. Spiro Salt Room & Massage Therapy also offers massage facials and acne facials. Soak in that antibacterial goodness to clear up your trouble spots. There’s also massages, salty and sodium-free. There’s the Feet Retreat, Himalayan Salt Pillow Massage, and Salt Stone Massage as well.

Super Chix has breaded and grilled sandwiches (as well as chicken tenders). The breaded sandwiches come as traditional or stacked as you’d like, with options ranging from a simple sandwich with kosher pickles to a crispy avocado sandwich. The grilled options include a Bacavo – that’s bacon, ranch and avocado – and a blackened Cajun.
Farrelly’s Southern Bar & Kitchen
5532 Grove Blvd, Hoover, AL 35226
Farrelly’s opened in November 2019 after the interior was renovated. The restaurant features a bar and large seating areas separated by a massive fireplace. Diners at the restaurant will find a menu full of happy hour treats, wine options and extensive dinner menu that takes a creative mix of new and classic takes on southern fare.
1037 Amber Ln, Hoover, AL 35244
Culver’s, a Wisconsin-based eatery, known for its butterburgers, frozen custard, and cheese curds, is now open in Hoover! This is the second Culver’s to open in Alabama, with the other location in Foley. The Hoover Culver’s is located at 1037 Amber Drive, which is on John Hawkins Parkway right of I-459.
The Yak Shak
2649 Pelham Pkwy, Pelham, AL 35124
The Yak Shak offers premium paddlesport options for kayakers and anglers of all ages. Owners Allen Norris and Jessica Ray noticed the increasing participation in kayak fishing and as angler enthusiasts themselves, they saw a need to fit the demand and provide to the community around the sport.
Abhi Eatery and Bar
Chef Abhi Sainju has had a huge influence on Birmingham’s Asian-fusion food scene. Sainju started serving Asian-fusion dishes at Blue Monkey, helped launch Bamboo on 2nd, opened mo:mo in the Pizitz food hall and opened the original Abhi Eatery and Bar at the Summit in 2017. They menu at this new location will be constantly changing but with more of a focus on sushi.
Bullet Coffe Company

Offering a selection of specialty coffees, classic coffees, teas, breakfast and lunch, Bullet Coffee Co. is the newest coffee shop to open in the Magic City. Located on Hwy 280 near Lowe’s, Bullet could be the perfect morning pit-stop to make that 280 commute a little more enjoyable!
Paddywayx Candle Bar
Paddywax Candle Bar is an experiential retail shop that allows guests to design and hand-pour their own custom-made candle. A DIY candle pouring experience and gift shop born in Nashville, Tennessee, Paddywax Candle Bar is in a high design retail space that allows guests to disconnect and tap into their creative side. The rapidly growing company currently has six locations and an additional four are set to open by the end of the year.
Full Moon - Trussville

The newest 4,800-square-foot “Best Little Pork House in Alabama” is located at 5988 Chalkville Mountain Rd. Birmingham, AL 35235 in the Trussville Shopping Center off the Clay-Chalkville exit and in front of the old K-Mart. Full Moon BBQ Trussville will be the 15th location in the state of Alabama. Full Moon BBQ Trussville will offer a quick service dining experience and serve a full menu featuring all of the BBQ restaurant fan favorites while also expanding catering offerings to the area.
Metro Diner - Trussville

Metro Diner features daily blackboard specials with quality ingredients and a made-from-scratch kitchen that also serves gluten-friendly options. Dishes include comfort food favorites like Fried Chicken & Waffles, the diner’s acclaimed Meatloaf Plate, Biscuits & Sausage Gravy, the Cooking Channel’s Cheap Eats featured Jumbo Chicken Pot Pie and the Pulled Pork Mac Stack – a half-pound of BBQ pulled pork piled over creamy macaroni & cheese and a cheddar cornbread waffle topped with maple butter. If you don’t already know, Chicken Salad Chick is THE place for chicken salad lovers! They take this Southern favorite to a whole new level with over twelve flavors of chicken salad that can be served as a scoop or a sandwich. Chicken Salad Chick also serves Pimento Cheese, salads, soups and signature sandwiches as well.
