Riverchase Galleria is excited to announce several special events that will be taking place during the holiday season.
“From our annual Tree Lighting to TUBACHRISTMAS, we are excited to host so many wonderful, family friendly holiday events here at the Riverchase Galleria,” said Mike White, General Manager.
To kick-off the festivities, on November 24 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Riverchase Galleria is teaming up with Cherry Hill Programs and Autism Speaks to host Santa Cares, a sensory-friendly event for children and family members with all spectrums of special needs to enjoy the time-honored tradition of the Santa Photo Experience in a calming environment prior to public hours.
Tree Lighting and Santa
The annual tree lighting took place on Friday, November 8. The Christmas tree lighting and Santa’s arrival began at 7 p.m.
Wrapping Paper Stations
Grace House Ministries will host their annual wrapping paper stations from December 1 through December 24. They will have two locations, one on the first floor near H&M and Macy’s and a second on the first floor near Santa’s Village.
On December 8, the Autism Society of Alabama will sponsor Sensory Santa, a “meet and greet” open to families with special needs children from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. This event is uniquely catered to children with special needs through special sensory lighting, reduced audio, and a sensory inclusive Santa.
“The Autism Society of Alabama is thrilled to partner with Riverchase Galleria for its Sensory Santa once again,” said Lauren Reid, Development Director. “Every year autism parents share with us how this single event provides a heart-warming experience that wouldn’t be possible otherwise.”
Alabama Symphony Youth Orchestra
The Alabama Symphony Youth Orchestra will play in the food court on Sunday, December 8 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., with smaller, intermittent sets in between.
“We are extremely excited to bring our holiday tidings, with the largest group we have ever had, to our community at Riverchase Galleria,” said Karin Park, Alabama Youth Symphony Grants Manager. “We cannot thank the Riverchase Galleria more for their continued support and help as we change lives through music.”
For the very first time, TUBACHRISTMAS is coming to Riverchase Galleria as well. This nationwide non-profit group presents concerts featuring tubas and baritones playing Christmas carols. They will host rehearsal at Hoover High School and then mobilize for their performance at Riverchase Galleria. TUBACHRISTMAS will carol around the mall on Saturday, December 14 at 3 p.m.
