Get ready to rock 'n roll for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama on April 4, 2020 at the 16th Annual Red Shoe Run! Walk or run the 5K and 1 Mile routes through the best spots in Downtown Birmingham!
The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama Red Shoe Run is April 4, 2020! The 5K run and 1 Mile Fun Run will both start and finish at the Ronald McDonald House in downtown Birmingham! The staff are exited to welcome runners downtown so that they can see for themselves what a great place the Ronald McDonald House is. Following the 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run, everyone is invited to a block party! There will be lots of vendors, music and food for everyone to enjoy!
The Red Shoe Run theme this year is again ‘Rockin’ 5K’. Obviously that means that fun team names and costumes are encouraged! Music will also be a large part of this year’s run with music being played along the race course and at the block party, plus there will be a special Spotify training playlist that you can follow!
Not just for runners
There’s still a way to support this great cause even for those who can’t make it the day of the run, or if you’re just not in the mood to get up early and go for a run. You can register as a Red Shoe Run Snoozer, which will get you a t-shirt, access to the block party after the race and you’ll still be able to start a Red Shoe Run fundraiser page!
Another great fundraising idea is to do a Bingo Challenge! It’s a fun and easy way to get your friends to donate to Red Shoe Run: Rockin’ 5K! If your friends claim every square on the card, that’s $325 raised for Ronald McDonald House families!
On Facebook: Start a Facebook Fundraiser for RMHCA and share your Bingo Card in your stories and on your profile! Ask you friends to claim a square and donate the corresponding amount to your Facebook Fundraiser.
On Instagram: Add your bingo card to your Story or grid and tell your friends to pick a square and Venmo the amount to @rmhca . Make sure they put your name in the Venmo payment! Ie. “For Jane’s Bingo!”

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama
The Red Shoe Run is always a lot of fun but it’s also an important way to fund the mission of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama. All proceeds from the race support the Ronald McDonald House right here in Birmingham, two Ronald McDonald Family Rooms located at UAB Hospital and DCH in Tuscaloosa and the the Happy Wheels cart which provides free snacks and activity packs to provide comfort to both parents and children who are waiting to see the doctor at Children’s of Alabama. In 2018, the Birmingham Ronald McDonald House provided 1,699 family stays and no family is ever charged for their stay. Children, whose families stay at Ronald McDonald Houses, tend to be the sickest, have travelled the furthest distances for care and spend the longest time in the hospital.
