8th Annual Slicefest
The 8th annual edition of Slicefest, presented by Birmingham Budweiser, is set to take stage Saturday, June 1, 2019.
As Birmingham’s largest food and music block party, Slicefest will take place outside of the Slice restaurant in Lakeview on 29th Street South from 1 p.m. to midnight.
Slicefest features a strong lineup of local and regional jazz-inspired musicians including Yacht Rock Revue, Magic City Hippies, CBDB, The Stooges Brass Band and Bailey Ingle on the big stage. Between sets, local Lakeview talent DJ PURDY will keep the party going.
Attendees will also have access to a wide selection of local, craft beer and numerous slices of specialty pizza, along with additional food and drink options from nearby restaurants and supporting sponsors.
Event proceeds will benefit the Suki Foundation, a not-for-profit organization created by Brian and Marie Bateh in honor of their daughter Sarah Katherine Bateh, affectionately known as Suki, following her diagnosis of Rett Syndrome at age 2. In efforts to raise awareness and assist children in reaching their potential through early intervention services, the Suki Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of those affected with Rett Syndrome and other neurological disorders. Funds assist families in early detection, and upon diagnosis, are instrumental in assuring early intervention by providing support, education and the most therapeutic services possible through early learning programs. Since 2011, Slicefest has donated more than $60,000 to the Suki Foundation and other charitable organizations.
“We’re looking forward to another great year of combining the best of local music, food and drink at Slicefest,” says Jason Bajalieh, co-owner of Slice. “It’s not just Slice’s birthday party, it’s a party for the whole community and we can’t wait to announce all the great plans we have in store for this year.”
