Iconic Birmingham restaurant Sol Y Luna to reopen in December!

Six years after closing, Sol Y Luna, the iconic Birmingham restaurant, is set to re-open in December at a new location in the Mountain Brook area. Jorge Castro, brother of the late chef Guillermo Castro, continues the legacy of this Latin-influenced restaurant. “The re-opening of Sol Y Luna makes me so proud. It was the first restaurant my brother, Guillermo, opened in Birmingham and it was such a beautiful and unique culinary experience. When we closed Sol Y Luna, it left a void for so many people – me included. We are happy to say that we are giving our customers what they have asked for… Sol Y Luna is coming back.” Jorge Castro stated.

The original menu from the 1997 restaurant will be served featuring its authentic Mexican tapas dishes, premium tequilas and Latin cuisine in an upscale setting. The new location will also include a patio area. Castro attributes finding the perfect location to Crawford Square Real Estate Advisors – the leasing and management company for Lane Parke.

“I am thrilled that Lane Parke has been chosen for the new location of Sol Y Luna. Our community will embrace this restaurant not only for the location in Lane Parke, but the reputation of Jorge Castro and his culinary history,” said John Evans, Owner/Developer of Lane Parke.

“Sol Y Luna is and always will be a way of life for the people of Birmingham which is why we are bringing the restaurant back. Yes, this is for all of you that were waiting to experience an authentic taste of Mexico right in your backyard. See you soon, friends.” said Castro.
