Art On The Rocks feat. Durand Jones & the Indications

Fri July 12, 7pm – 11pm
Birmingham Museum of Art
$25, Members $15

Art On The Rocks presented by Dale’s Seasoning will bring you the best of Birmingham with three Friday nights of art-centered entertainment— from live music and dj dance parties, to artist demos and interactive mural-making. Art On The Rocks always brings out the fabulous and fashionable, and the 2019 theme will take cues from our exhibition, Ways of Seeing: Fashion. Tickets on sale now!

Musical Guests: Durand Jones & the Indications

Durand Jones & the Indications aren’t looking backwards. Helmed by foil vocalists in Durand Jones and drummer Aaron Frazer, the Indications conjure the dynamism of Jackie Wilson, Curtis Mayfield, and the Impressions. This young band of twenty-somethings are students of soul, and use their inspirations the same way hip-hop producers do, borrowing from the sampling mentality. Even with that background, and an aesthetic steeped in the golden, strings-infused dreaminess of early ‘70s soul, the Indications are planted firmly in the present, with the urgency of this moment in time.

For July’s Art On The Rocks, Durand Jones & the Indications bring a sweet, soulful sound to Birmingham for the first time since the debut of their second album American Love Call.
