Alabama’s 16th community archery park held its grand opening on Wednesday, February 6, at Walker County Public Fishing Lake near Jasper, Ala. The archery park will be open year-round for recreational shooting, competitive tournaments and outdoor educational programming.
Walker County Community Archery Park
The archery park is located on two acres at Walker County Lake. The facility features a seven-target adult range from 20 to 50 yards and a three-target youth range of 5 to 15 yards. Additionally, Walker County is the first state-operated archery park in the nation to feature an Americans with Disabilities Act compliant elevated shooting platform. The elevated platform was designed by McGehee Engineering. Anyone between the ages of 16 and 65 can use the park for free and targets are provided, but you will be required to have a valid hunting, fishing or Wildlife Heritage license. Archers must also bring their own bows and arrows. The Walker County Community Archery Park will be open along with the Walker County Lake, which means it will be open during daylight hours each day except Wednesday.
