Woodlawn Street Market (WSM) is rolling out its first in-person market of the year on Saturday, October 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Woodlawn Street Market Shop in Person
Starting Saturday, October 24, the spaced-out shop-in-person market will take place at 55th Place in downtown Woodlawn – a new (but temporary) kind of market.
“Following safety guidelines and working with community partners, we feel we can finally offer a safe, outdoor experience this month. This in-person market will operate differently than our past markets but we are always thankful to showcase Woodlawn and share with visitors so many entrepreneurs that make Birmingham unique.”
Shoppers can browse local makers as well as a few brick-and-mortar Woodlawn businesses that line the physical market space at woodlawnstreetmarket.com.
“We’ve really missed seeing the streets full on market days, but everyone’s safety is our priority,” said Woodlawn Street Market co-founder and organizer Rebekah Fox. “During quarantine we worked on taking the market virtual, pushing opportunities out to our contacts and doing a lot of morale boosting.
Safety and Traffic Plan
The team behind the community event has mapped out a COVID-19 safety plan for tent set-up as well as foot traffic flow to ensure all vendors and visitors stay safely spaced. Masks will be required for everyone, and team members are assigned to check for compliance at each entrance as well as throughout the market.
As the previously planned markets were canceled due to COVID-19, the WSM team turned their attention to coordinating a new virtual market that launched in June. Both new and long-time vendors that offer online shopping options will continue to be featured at woodlawnstreetmarket.com. Online vendors are added monthly.
